I have lived and worked both as an artist and yoga teacher in La Manzanilla since 1999. My medium in exhibitions has been acrylic, collages, textile creations and handmade paperwork. From the early days of my career as a Weaver, I have always been attracted to texture and textiles which are evident in my work.
This series of nine textile collages called ¨Pieces of Mexico/Pedazos de Mexico¨ came from finding the delightful, designed yardage by a San Miguel de Allende artist. I collected many scraps from various Mexican themed cloth adding some typical Mexican decorations. This combination shows a colourful cultural synopsis of various Mexican icons. They are all placed on handmade paper and framed by black foam core.
I believe the amazing colours of Mexico show up well in this form.
Enjoy.
