Born in Bucaramanga, Santander, Colombia on March 11, 1990.
At 16 she started studying art at Maestros de Cristian Toledo School in her hometown. It was there she learned techniques for drawing and oil and acrylic painting. From this early education her work has matured as she began to experiment and explore her own techniques.
She has shown work in Bogotá, San Andres Islas, Saravena, and Bucaramanga, Columbia as well as in various cities in Mexico such as Oaxaca, Puebla, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. Due to the quality of her work, she also enjoys a dedicated chapter in the book of Santander’s painters, “Escuela de Maestros Colombia.”
Her work is influenced by Voka and Jackson Pollock. She has explored topics such as memory, body, vulnerability, pain and loss. The death of her son had a profound effect on her work. From that tragedy she explored ways to open her heart and allow space for growth beyond grief. Her piece, “Emmanuel, the whisper of love” is a manifestation of that opening as expressed by the vibrant colors that typify the painting.
Her first individual exhibition “Carnaval de colores” was in March 2017 at the Duubiedie Gallery House of Art in Oaxaca, Mexico. A year later she moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with her family. Her work is exhibited in the Corsica Gallery in Puerto Vallarta.
Currently, she works with plaster, acrylic, oil and paper to create figures of animals, humans and ships, introducing a background with fluid paint infusing abstract action with the reality.
On April the 30, 2018, she opened an exhibit of her work at the Feria Artesanal en Romeria Senorial Compostela in Nayarit. A few days later, she presented a new work, called “La Manzana de Eva,” at the Expo Centenario Puerto Vallarta, which ran from May 18 through June 1st. “Rostro del alma” opened on November 16, 2018 at the Dante Gallery and “Gracias, con puro amor” opened in Florios on January 25, 2020.
Her artwork stands out on any canvas, from a painted face to a simple piece of wood, figures and color combine to surprise and delight.
